I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at the University of California Davis.  I work with Dr. Mont Hubbard on bicycle dynamics and control. 

My general research interests are:

• Dynamics of mechanical systems
• Control theory
• Nonholonomic systems
• Bicycle dynamics and control
• Kane's equations
• Python, SWIG, and C/C++ as a scientific research tool

I am generally interested in bicycles, for academic, practical, and recreational reasons. 

 For my Ph.D. research, I am investigating the following:

• General circular motions of a benchmarked Whipple bicycle model.
• Influence of additional actuators on the zero dynamics on an extended Whipple bicycle model that includes rigid body corresponding to a leaning rider.
• Experimental validation of simple bicycle models through construction of a robotic bicycle.  How accurately do these simple models predict reality?

My expected graduation is September 2010.
